The Learning Lab is designed for teens through transitional-age individuals with autism spectrum disorder who benefit from practical, individualized opportunities to build skills for everyday life.
Learning that connects to real life
Rather than separating skill-building from daily life, the Learning Lab emphasizes meaningful practice: communication, routines, activities of daily living, meal preparation, social connection, self-advocacy, community participation, and increasing independence at each learner’s pace.
Possible focus areas
- Daily living and self-care routines
- Functional communication and AAC participation
- Meal preparation and household skills
- Social and leisure participation
- Community access and real-world practice
- Individualized routines and visual supports
Built around the learner
Supports are designed around the person’s communication style, sensory needs, strengths, interests, and meaningful goals. The aim is not compliance for its own sake; it is participation, confidence, access, and greater independence.
